What is a Sublimated Print?

Sublimation printing is a process that uses heat and pressure to transfer a printed design onto polyester or treated fabrics. Unlike other methods, the artwork is printed onto transfer paper with sublimation inks and then applied to the item using heat. The ink becomes part of the product, resulting in a durable finish that won’t fade or wear off. It’s ideal for sports uniforms, neoprene items, non-woven bags, and mugs with vibrant or photographic designs.

Key Advantages
  • No Ink Build-Up: The ink is a dye, so it becomes part of the fabric with no raised print.
  • Vivid Colours: Perfect for full-colour images and detailed designs.
  • Personalisation: Easily add individual names and numbers.
  • Cost-Effective: One setup fee applies, no matter how many colours in the design.
Limitations to Consider
  • No Metallic Colours: Metallics like silver and gold can’t be reproduced.
  • PMS Colour Approximation: PMS colours are approximate, not exact.
  • Minor Print Imperfections: Small imperfections at the edges may occur, especially with large images.
Artwork Guidelines
  • Format: Vector files (EPS, Ai, or PDF) are required.
  • Bleed: Add a 3mm bleed for designs that go to the edge of the product.
